CRIPPLED by TRADITION: ALIVE in JESUS
THE BODY of CHRIST is a term we hear but do not often see fully functioning because of hundreds of years of bad teaching. The traditions of men and misconstrued application of Scripture has neutered the Church, robbing her of power, authority and dominion.
For instance, the misapplication of the “Fivefold Ministry Gifts” in Ephesians 4:11-13 has limited the expression of those gifts to a few while the intent was that everyone with those gifts be quickly trained up and released to train up more and more disciples. However, at best, only one or two members of a local assembly are allowed to utilize their God-given gift. And usually only after years of study and acquiring of degrees and certificates.
Jesus (God)however saw fit to raise up a bunch of disciples with the modern equivalent of a 6th Grade education, train them out in public ministry and sent them out to seek and save what was lost by destroying the works of the devil. After 3 years He left His earthly kingdom to them and told them to make the world His again. We don’t do that. Why?
Once a person is born again, EVERYONE receives one or more of the 5-fold gifts yet only a minuscule number are trained to use their gift. Why? Because we have turned from the Tree of Eternal Life to the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. We have become worldly. Why? The result for the most part is the church no longer walks in the power of the Holy Spirit. And the world no longer “fears” the church.
This is changing today as many lovers of Jesus have “red” (pun intended) Jesus’ promises and see that EVERYONE and ANYONE who hears Jesus’ words and puts them into practice will fulfill His promise:
Go and heal the sick, cast out demons and share the gospel of the Kingdom. This was never intended to be only for a limited one or two within the church but EVERYONE!
Around the world today 1,000’s of 1st Century style disciples of Jesus are outside the 4 walls of the building called “church” BEing “The” Church: the Body of Christ.
As He promised, signs and wonders are following, opening the hearts of many to receive the gospel of Jesus Christ and then they too become disciples who make disciples who make disciples…just as Jesus’ first disciples did. Then, they, we, the EVERYONEs and the ANYONEs are starting House Churches where the EVERYONEs and the ANYONEs are operating in the three spiritual giftings of Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
